Testing
Every parent wants to make sure they are doing the best thing for their child. We want to reassure you, and keep you informed on how your child is doing. We would like to continue to do state testing, if possible, both to see how your child is doing, and to make sure that we are teaching at high standards. HOWEVER, you can easily opt out of state testing. Below are some other testing that we will do to make sure your child is on track!
Reading Placement
The Good and The Beautiful (TGTB) has a placement test that your child will take at the beginning of the year. This will help us to know if the "on grade level" will be enough, or if they need some extra support in a reading group.

Reading Quizzes
TGTB also has comprehension tests built into their program. You will be seeing these come home as your child finishes them.
Reading Check-ins

TGTB also has math quizzes after each unit that your child will take to make sure they are mastering concepts.
We will also be using the Pioneer Valley Books free reading assessment 3 times a year. This will give your child a reading level to help you and your child choose book to enjoy at their level.
